There are three main factors that determine the quality of crimping: raw materials, equipment and mould, and process.
The crimping technology of mand-rod and end fixtures is the most critical technology of suspension composite insulators. The quality of crimping determines the mechanical properties of products and directly determines the service performance of products. It is one of the most important indicators to measure the technical level of suspension composite insulator manufacturers. Therefore, the first technical issue to be considered in this project is doing the crimp process well and stably.
The principle of crimping is that after the mandrel is inserted into the inner hole of the goldware, the crimping machine is used to squeeze the goldware through the crimping mould at eight points to the centre, so that the goldware and the mandrel have plastic deformation, and the static friction force is generated when the tension is generated to achieve the mechanical connection effect. The size and material of the mandrel and goldware have a great influence on the quality of crimping. The hardness and elastic modulus of the mandrel and goldware are too large, which is easy to overpress or even break the mandrel. If the hardness and elastic modulus of the mandrel and the goldware are too small, as well as if the fit gap between the mandrel and the goldware is too large, the decompression will result in insufficient crimping strength.
